The site is an apartment in a 40-year-old building in the heart of Bangalore for clients currently residing in the suburbs. The interiors have been designed to support the couple’s everyday living while remaining adaptable for social gatherings and visits from family. A versatile ‘third room’ was created to function either as a TV lounge or a guest bedroom as per requirement. Additionally, we strategically reorganized walls and openings to enhance spatial flow and natural light, making the home more suited to their lifestyle while also increasing storage to meet their needs.
Collectors by nature, the clients were parallely sourcing antique furniture, fittings, and objects that varied from door knobs to a reclaimed wooden column. This guided our approach to design a space that stood as a solid backdrop for these pieces to create balanced personalised spaces. Minimal white walls were coupled with earthy finishes achieved with stone, wood and rattan (cane). To break the monotony, certain parts of the house were finished with colourful tiles, giving each space its unique signature.
