Nestled in a quiet coffee estate, this villa is meant to be an earthy place for slow living and connecting to nature. Right from its form to the materials used, the design was guided by the surroundings and the brief provided by the clients. We were given a mandate to not remove any trees on the site and to leave the natural slope untouched.
Locally sourced stones being used to make plinth masonry. The foundation depth here is 1250mm.
A large part of the design is the roof, a composite of timber and tiles that slopes upwards towards the perimeter of the house to ensure a panoramic view of the landscape. The ground floor follows the natural slope of the site through multiple horizontal surfaces that wander and step up as you move through the property, growing from a simple path into the main plinth of the building.
